Reports have started surfacing around the web of the first ITX length RTX graphics card, the MSI RTX 2070 AERO ITX. If these reports are true then this will be the most powerful true ITX length graphics card available up to this point.
Following in the footsteps of the previous generation MSI GTX 1070 AERO ITX, the successor looks to be around the same proportions and shares a similar shroud and fan/cooling design.
The GTX 1070 AERO ITX was considered by many the best performing card in its size class for thermals and noise leading to higher sustained boost clocks. If the next generation RTX 2070 version can perform similarly it will make a great choice for high end state of the art mini gaming PC and a perfect match for the Lazer3D LZ7 case.
Hopefully we will start to see some of the other manufacturers such as Gigabyte to announce their ITX length RTX series GPU’s. Last generation we saw a GTX 1080 from Gigabyte, but this newer 2000 series are bit more power hungry than the 1000 series making it difficult to achieve comfortable thermals in short length cards, so it may be that the 2070 is the top offering we see in this form factor.
Some of you may be thinking what about the Zotac MINI cards? I get asked allot about compatibility of the LZ7 with the Zotac MINI cards, they were the first to release a short version the GTX 1080Ti and have announced a Zotac RTX 2070 MINI as well, but these are slightly longer cards at around 211mm in length, making them incompatible with ultra compact SFFPC cases such as the LZ7 which has a maximum GPU length of 186mm.
